A meaningfull workplace that connects people
In the iconic Holbeinhuis on Rotterdam’s Coolsingel, the team of Salacia Solutions, developer of an ESG platform, is working towards a sustainable future. Within the renovated building, Ideal Projects created an interior design that reflects Salacia’s mission. The space combines functionality with an open culture and a strong sustainable identity, resulting in a workplace that brings people together and makes them want to come to the office.
At Salacia, sustainability is a fundamental part of the company’s identity. This is expressed through several highlights: a powerful mural by artist Naomi King depicting the mythological figure Salacia, protector of all life under the sea; subtle blue lines that flow across columns and the pantry, referencing potential future sea level rise; and a circular pantry designed by Circular Architect Bruno Vermeersch. Built from second-life and recycled materials and placed on tall legs symbolizing rising water, the pantry makes the company’s circular ambition tangible and highlights the urgency of the climate challenge at its core.
The choice of materials further reinforces this message. Carpet made from recycled fishing nets and signage on second-life Re-glow tiles by Studio Rens create a direct link with water and reuse. Functionality and meaning come together in one consistent material story, where every detail contributes to both the experience and the message of the space.
In close co-creation with the Salacia team, the foundation was laid for a spatial concept that reflects the organization’s DNA and supports both focus and collaboration. When a design emerges from true dialogue with its users, the workplace becomes a true part of the organization’s story.
